Police are searching for a missing hunter on Stewart Island-Rakiura.

Police were alerted after the hunter failed to return on Monday afternoon.
The 39-year-old man was a part of a group of 13 people hunting on the island, but failed to return back to the group on Monday.
Officers spent yesterday searching the Lords River area and the search resumed this morning.
A police spokesperson said four police teams are searching using thermal technology and dogs.
