Police increase presence after apparent fatal shooting in South Auckland

There will be a large police presence in parts of South Auckland today after a man was killed in an apparent shooting in Ōtara overnight.

Unexplained death in Taita, Lower Hutt early on Sunday 26th January 2020.  A Police cordon and crime scene invetsigation tent were in place Monday 27th January 2020.

Emergency services were called to Bairds Road just before midnight, after receving a report of a firearm being used in the area.

A man was found with critical injuries and he died at the scene.

A second person had moderate injuries and was taken to Middlemore Hospital.

A homicide investigation has been launched and a scene guard remains in place.
