A body has been discovered in the Whanganui River which police believe is that of a man who went missing yesterday afternoon.

Police had been searching for a 24-year-old Israeli man who failed to surface at the popular Mosquito Point swimming hole near Upokongaro yesterday.
The body, which was found today in the Mosquito Point area, is yet to be formally identified.
A rāhui has been placed on part of the river.
