A truck has hit a gas main in Mount Wellington, closing a road and prompting people to evacuate the area.

Police said emergency services were responding to the crash on Carbine Road, Mt Wellington after it was reported around 9.30am.
They said it had since been secured.
A section of Carbine Road was closed, they said, and there were cordons in place at the intersections with Clemow Drive and Panama Road, about 950m apart, but these were taken down by 11am.
Police said nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution due to the gas leak, but they were also allowed to return about 11am.
Motorists were being asked to avoid the area.
