A person has died in a crash on State Highway 3 just outside Whanganui this afternoon.

The incident occurred at 12.30pm at Kaitoke, just five kilometres south-east of the city, when the car rolled.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Kaitoke and the Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
Meanwhile traffic congestion that was causing headaches for commuters along the Kapiti Coast has eased, according to the New Zealand Transport Agency.
There were significant delays between Peka Peka and Otaki.

It took people almost double the usual time to get from Wellington to Otaki.
The traffic eased at around 4pm.
In Auckland, those travelling on State Highway 1 from Puhoi to Wellsford are also being told to expect delays.
