A man has been killed in a workplace accident this morning at a Taranaki meatworks.
Emergency services were called to the ANZCO Foods plant in Eltham just after 6am.
Eltham chief fire officer David Waite said two fire trucks responded to the callout where a man had got caught up in equipment.
Waite said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
He said fire and emergency were now assisting police and WorkSafe in their investigations of the incident.
WorkSafe has inspectors on-site looking into the circumstances of the fatality.
