Three fatalities on NZ roads this weekend

Three people are dead after crashes on the country's roads yesterday.

A person died at the scene after a car crashed on State Highway 30 in Rotorua.

The police were called to the suburb of Tikitere just after 3.30pm.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

A driver died following a single vehicle crash on State Highway 6 near Athol in Southland about 5pm.

Police say four other people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after the crash, which occurred between Lumsden and Kingston.

Another person died following a two-car crash at Lincoln, south of Christchurch.

Two injured people were taken to hospital.

Police were alerted to the crash, at the intersection of Ellesmere and Tancreds roads, after 4.30pm.
