A person has been taken to hospital with severe burns after a house fire in Nelson this evening.
Fire and Emergency said they were called just before 7pm to Montreal Road.
The injured person had escaped unhurt initially and was trying to fight the fire with a garden hose from outside, Fire and Emergency said.
But the person was injured after re-entering the house.
The fire has been extinguished and investigations will be carried out tomorrow morning.
