Police are calling for witnesses as they launch a homicide investigation into the death of a man in Hornby, Christchurch.

Officers were called to a house in Skerton Avenue at 7.45pm yesterday.
They said a man in his 30s had been seriously injured during an assault and died at the scene.
Police arrested two people and are examining the house and another home in Bishopdale.
They believe the incident was an isolated event between people known to one other.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw a white Holden Commodore parked at the Skerton Avenue house last night.
