A man has died in hospital after a fight broke out following an attempted van break-in in West Auckland at the weekend.

Two men were seen breaking into a van at the back of an address on Te Atatu Road early on Sunday morning.
A fight erupted between the owner of the van and one of the offenders, who lost consciousness and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Police have confirmed he died in Auckland Hospital earlier today.
