Police have confirmed that a four-year-old died after being hit by a forklift at a Christchurch property today.

Police said the incident happened at a residential property on Robinsons Road, Prebbleton.
Police were contacted at around 1.50pm this afternoon.
In a statement police said the child received medical attention, but died at the scene.
WorkSafe has opened an investigation into the incident.
