A homicide investigation is under way into a woman's death in the Kapiti Coast township of Paraparaumu Beach last night.
The police say emergency services were notified of a serious assault at a Marine Parade address about 8pm and found the woman's body when they got there.
The police have arrested a man in his 40s in relation to the incident, and they say he and the woman were known to each other.
He has not been formally charged, but is expected to face serious charges.
Officers remain at the address of the incident, and at an address in nearby Raumati today, but the police say they would like to reassure the community this was an isolated incident.
