Two dozen raids and 15 arrests so far after hit and run in Christchurch

The police have raided 24 properties and arrested 15 people in their hunt for the man wanted in relation to a hit and run in Christchurch.

Homeless man Dean Amies was killed by a van fleeing the police in the suburb of New Brighton on Wednesday last week.

Canterbury Police Acting District Commander Mike Johnson says Liam Strickland is still on the run.

Mr Johnson said during their search for the 21-year-old, the police have recovered six firearms, drugs and two stolen cars.

He said the 15 people arrested face various charges.

Police believe Mr Strickland is being helped to evade detection.
