Police say they are still working to locate 21-year-old Liam Strickland following the death of 46-year-old Dean Amies in New Brighton on Wednesday.

They said they have reason to believe he is being assisted by others and said those who are providing help to him should be aware they are committing an offence punishable by imprisonment.

Police said locating Strickland remains a high-priority and said members of the public should be aware he is considered dangerous.

Police arrested two others in the incident but Strickland fled, stealing a nearby van and ramming a police dog vehicle.
