A Māori learning centre in Ōtaki, north of Wellington, is in lockdown as police search for a person of interest.

Police said Te Wānaga O Raukawa was in lockdown as a precaution and the Armed Offenders Squad was on the scene.
Cordons are in place around the Tasman Road area.
