A man has been charged after a knife-point car-jacking on the Kapiti Coast near Wellington.
Police say a man standing in the middle of Raumati Road attempting to flag down cars drew a knife on a woman who stopped to help on Monday morning.
The man drove off in the vehicle and was stopped 10 minutes later after a brief police chase.
Detective Sergeant Ian Martin said the man is a stranger to the 44-year-old driver, who was extremely shaken by the incident.
A 19-year-old was to appear in Porirua District Court on Tuesday on charges of aggravated robbery, possession of an offensive weapon, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
