A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 39-year-old man who was shot in Rotorua last night.

The police were called to a property in Mangakakahi, near the city centre, around 8pm and found the man dead.
A person found at a nearby address was taken into custody.
The police say a 53-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder and has been remanded in custody until 19 July.
