The search for a missing tramper in Hawke's Bay has ended after the man walked out the Kaweka Range by himself.
Rescue teams and a helicopter started looking for the 23-year-old Taradale man when he failed to return home on Tuesday evening.
In an unrelated incident, an emergency locator beacon was activated in the Kaweka Range on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say a helicopter tracked down the beacon and found three people in need of assistance, two of them suffering from hypothermia.
