One person has died and three are injured following a suspected shooting in rural Waikato.

A police spokeswoman said three people suffered moderate injuries.
A fourth person who was critically hurt later died.
Officers were called shortly before 4am to location near Kawhia.
Police said the injured people had managed to get help and raise the alarm and emergency helicopter was dispatched to the scene.
One person was helping police with their inquiries and they were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident, they said.
