The driver of a truck has died in a crash north of Auckland.
Police were called to the single-vehicle crash in Kaiwaka, north of Wellsford, about 6am today.
They say the truck went down a bank at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Settlement Road, and the driver died at the scene.
Part of State Highway 1 in Kaiwaka will be down to one lane until at least 2pm, police said.
They said initial indications showed the truck hit another stationary truck on the road before going down a steep bank.
Police advised motorists to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
