One person has died and another is in a serious condition after a crash in Taranaki.
Police said they were called to the two-car crash at about 8pm, at the corner of Mountain Road and Bird Road, in Cardiff, south of Stratford.
One person was initially trapped in a car.
Diversions are in place, but motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
