A 22-year-old Korean woman was critically injured and a 29-year-old man was injured in a landslide at the Hawke's Bay tourist spot.

Both were swept out to sea and are now in a stable condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital.

The Department of Conservation says it has closed all vehicle and pedestrian access to the Cape, along the beach from Clifton, given the continuing rockfalls.

Specialist engineers are assessing the area and DOC says it will update the public after that.
