A pillion passenger on a motorcycle has a broken leg after being hit by a falling rock while riding in Marlborough on State Highway 1 near Weld Pass.
The motorcyclist was uninjured after being hit by the rock just after midday.
Police are investigating but said at this stage it appeared that the rock had fallen from a hill above the road.
