A person is dead after a crash involving a truck and a car in rural Canterbury early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 1 at Dunsandel at 3.13am.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said the driver of the car had died.
The truck driver was assessed at the scene but was not thought to have been badly injured.
Police are investigating.
