The baby who drowned at a rural property north-west of Ashburton on Sunday has been named.
She was Grace Marie Griffin, who was 13 months old.
The death happened at a property on Maronan Valetta Road, Westerfield.
Police said the child was found unresponsive and was taken to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter, but later died.
An investigation is under way.
