The man who died while diving off the Wellington coast on Christmas Eve has been named.
He was 58-year-old Gary Hibbs, from Upper Hutt.
Emergency services were called to Seatoun on Monday shortly after 4pm when the man - who it's believed was free diving - was pulled from the water unconscious.
Police have referred the death to the coroner.
