A man has died after a two-car crash in Northland.
Police say they were called to the State Highway 1, south of Kawakawa, about 4.30pm.
They said the man, who was a passenger, died at the scene.
Four other people have been airlifted to Whangārei Hospital - two with serious injuries.
State Highway 1 south of Kawakawa was completely blocked for several hours after the crash, but it has now reopened.
Meanwhile, six people were taken to hospital after a two-car crash on State Highway 60 in the Tasman region.
Emergency services were called to the scene, at Redwood Valley, just before 4pm, police said.
Some of those who have been taken to hospital are thought to have serious injuries.
