A strange noise that has been heard around the Tauranga area, has left residents puzzled.

A noise that has been described as a huge grinding, rumbling kind of crash, has left some residents asking what the noise actually was.
One resident Skyla, who lives in Greerton, says that the noise got her out of bed.
"We looked all around our house and nothing was any different inside or out and our chimes were all still so we knew it wasn't an earthquake.
"When I woke up this morning I found another post about the exact same noise, but that post and some other comments have all been in different places and times but the exact same sound."
Some of the comments on the post says that what alerted them first was that their animals were acting really strangely, with some whining and some putting their tail between their legs.
Welcome Bay resident Liz Grant says her dog was whining really loudly in an unusual tone when the noise happened.
Similar mysterious noises in the sky that have baffled people across the world for the past decade.
Eerie grinding and trumpeting sounds have been recorded in many locations, including Canada, Poland, Ukraine, the US, Germany and Belarus.
GNS Science spokesperson, Elizabeth Garlick says there was an earthquake in the Tauranga area at 11.11pm on Tuesday night.
"It was M3.7, however, it was very deep, 283km, and no one submitted a felt report for it.
"I'm not sure if it would have caused a strange noise, however dogs and other pets may have picked up on the seismic energy.
"Our instruments show no significant ground motion and it was an unnoticeable earthquake. Zero felt reports also confirm this."
So the question as to why the dogs were acting strangely may have been answered, but the question remains as to what the strange noise was.
