Suspicious posts on community Facebook pages in Wellington and Auckland have caught the attention of police.
The posts are from a man seeking children, aged between nine and 13 years old, to be part of a game that involves pouring custard over themselves and the man.
The man is offering money, vouchers or tickets to events in exchange for children playing the game with him.
He said it was part of his training as a youth worker or was related to a project he was completing for tertiary study.
Police are advising parents to keep an eye on their children's social media activity and not to engage with the person.
An investigation into the posts is underway.
