A man has been arrested in relation to the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old in Christchurch at the weekend.
He was killed in front of his partner on a quiet country road near West Melton.
It has been reported he has links to the King Cobra gang and police said they could not discount the possibility of gang reprisals.
They have revealed that a 35-year-old man was arrested last night and charged with a number of firearms related offences.
He appeared in the Christchurch District Court today and was remanded in custody.
