7:20 pm on 5 October 2018

A drug raid on two Christchurch houses found people unconscious from smoking synthetic drugs.

Three people have been arrested and charged with possession and supply of the drugs after last night's raids in the Phillipstown area.

Two of them appeared in court and have been remanded in custody, while a third is due to appear in court next week.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sarah Illingworth said a raid on the houses found several people who were unconscious or close to it.

She said police were working hard to make more arrests to stop the spread of synthetics.

She urged anyone using the drugs to seek urgent medical assistance.
