Two charged with assault in relation to missing man

Assault charges have been laid against two men in relation to the disapperance of Napier man Alex Latimer.

Two men, aged 26 and 24, have been charged with assault and will appear in the Hastings District Court today.

Police said further charges were likely.

Alex Latimer, 30, has been missing since Sunday morning, when he was last seen at a Bayview BP service station at 1.25am.

Police believe he was on his way to the Te Haroto area on State Highway 5.

Two properties in Te Haroto and Napier were searched on Thursday.

The Te Haroto address was now the subject of an "extensive search and examination," police said in a statement.

Police are appealing for any sightings of Alex Latimer's vehicle, a white 2000 Toyota Carolla hatchback, which was found burnt on Omaranui Road in Napier on Monday.
