State Highway 29 remains closed near the top of the Kaimai Range on the Tauranga side after a fatal crash this afternoon.
One person died in the crash, which happened just after 2pm.
Police said the road linking Bay of Plenty and Waikato will stay closed for some time.
Motorists have been asked to delay travel if possible.
