A Kaikohe teenager has appeared in court charged with an assault at Northland College.
Police said Cruz Ru, 17, entered the school with several others last Friday, punched a student and attacked a teacher-aid who tried to intervene.
He has been remanded on bail for two weeks.
The Kaikohe school has described the episode as an isolated incident.
In a notice on its Facebook page it said it would liaise with police to ensure its safety procedures were as strong as possible.
