Testing for Mycoplasma bovis is underway on two farms in Taranaki.

It was the first time testing for the cattle disease has been carried out in the region, the Ministry for Primary Industries said.
Both farms were near Inglewood and notices of direction have been issued by the ministry in the past week.
The notices restrict the movement of animals and at-risk goods off a farm.
The majority of farms under notices of direction don't end up testing positive for Mycoplasma bovis, the ministry said.
Across the country there were 41 properties with active Mycoplasma bovis infections.
There were 158 farms under notices of direction.
The government has decided to spend almost $900 million trying to eradicate the disease.
