Auckland train services knocked out after truck hits powerlines

A truck has hit train powerlines in the Auckland suburb of Mount Eden, halting all train services on the Western Line for the rest of the day.

Police said it happened at the intersection of Boston Road and Normanby Road at about 2pm this afternoon.

No train services between Swanson and Newmarket will run this evening.

Auckland Transport said the overhead lines are being repaired, but staff were working "into the night" to make the repairs.

Normanby Road is closed between Boston Road and Lauder Road.

Commuters are being asked to find alternative transport this evening.

Auckland Transport said no trains were stranded betwen stations and all passengers were being transfered to bus services.
