A truck crash on State Highway 73 has closed the main route between Christchurch and Greymouth.
The truck went off the Ōtira Highway, near Punchbowl road, about 11.30am, police said.
They said there had been no reports of injuries, and no other vehicles were involved.
However, the road has to close for several hours while a crane is brought in to remove the truck, and paint on the road is cleaned up.
