A visa scandal at a private Auckland school for foreign students is being described as a bad look for New Zealand.
Immigration New Zealand is reviewing the visas of 200 foreign students after it laid charges of immigration fraud against two men connected to the Kingsland Institute.
English New Zealand represents private and public language schools in New Zealand. Chairperson Rob McKay says when any institution rorts the system it reflects badly on the whole industry, which is worth $2 billion to the economy.
Mr McKay says it is too easy to become an education provider and is calling on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority for greater supervision of those that are operating.
