Fans of NZ comedian and social media star Johnny 'Danger' Bennett have been left stunned after he died in a motorcycle crash north of Auckland yesterday.
Bennett died after his bike crashed on Dairy Flat Rd in Albany about 2.30pm yesterday.
Bennett - who had more than 230,000 followers on Instagram - was taking part in a motorcycle rally when he crashed and died at the scene.
He made headlines in 2015 when he was fined and disqualified from driving after he was filmed climbing onto the roof of a taxi as it travelled over the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Police have not yet confirmed that Bennett was the victim in yesterday's motorcycle crash, but the news of his death has spread widely on social media, with dozens of tributes on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Spent some time with him last year when we were in NZ, and kept in touch with him after we left.

Today I lost a mate. Social media lost a influence. NZ lost a genuine entertainer. I use to compare Johnny as the modern late great Billy t James. A kiwi that had his audience waited for what's next. I knew Johnny personally and can say he was a man that turned his life around to bring so much joy to others. I spoke to you only a couple of weeks ago mate. And what we talked about I can guarantee I'll carry on and will now do in your honour. I'll see you soon for a swig and to cook you a steak medium rehuurrr. #johnnydanger #danger #rip #nz
