Maori Language Commissioner Erima Henare says the road towards the total revitalisation of the Maori language is a long one and Maori still have a long way to go (towards the total revitalisation of te reo).
She told Waatea News: "According to language revitalisation experts around the world, a language can be lost in just one generation.
"After three generations, a language can be brought back to life, and that's where most of us are fighting for it to come back."
