Police targetted street racing and anti-social driver behaviour in western Bay of Plenty on Saturday and Sunday nights after complaints from residents in several communities.

Police said drivers were speeding on the Tauranga Eastern Link and doing burnouts on Old Coach Road.

Drivers have been charged with illegal street racing, speeding and excess alcohol, and 12 vehicles have been impounded.
