A row of shops at Cannons Creek in Porirua is severely damaged by fire last night.
Eleven fire trucks were called to the blaze at 10.55pm.
Fire and Emergency said the fire took hold at one end of the row of shops.
Two fire trucks are still at the scene dampening down hot spots.
A fire investigator will look into the cause of the blaze this morning.
