Police investigating the killing of a woman in Opotiki in the eastern Bay of Plenty have arrested a 27-year-old Opotiki man.

Police said the man had been charged with motor vehicle offences, which they did not specify.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen said the man was assisting them with their homicide inquiry.
The man is due to appear in the Whakatane District Court tomorrow and police said he was likely to face other charges.
Police said the woman received injuries to her face and arms following a domestic incident at a residential property near the town centre.
She is yet to be formally identified.
