The search for a 14-year-old boy who went missing in the water near the Christchurch suburb of Sumner yesterday afternoon is now being treated as a recovery operation.

Police said officers together with about 20 volunteers have been searching the water near Taylor's Mistake today.
Police said they were now assessing the next step in the search and they were liaising with the missing boy's family.
