Fire and Emergency were called to the airport at 8.30pm following a report the DHL Boeing 757 plane with hydraulic problems was going to make an emergency landing.
An airport spokesman said the plane with two people on board landed safely and crews were stood down.
The plane had been towed off the run-way but a small amount of hydraulic liquid had spilled.
"The runway has been shut to all arriving flights until it's cleaned up," he said.
The runway was reopened about 10pm.
