Power is back on in Waikato and the Coromandel after a transformer failure that cut electricity to 60,000 households.
Transpower said the main grid supplying 160 megawatts to Hamilton, Tauranga, Coromandel and surrounding areas went down from 7.50am, affecting Powerco customers.
A spokewoman said it was restored at 8.30am, but power was restored in stages.
Powerco said at its peak more than 60,000 thousand customers were without supply.
Transpower is investigating the fault.
