One person has died and another person is being flown to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a truck and a car near Lake Tekapo in the South Island this morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the accident crash on State Highway 8 just after 7am.
The diver of the car has died and the driver of the truck is being flown to hospital.
The road is down to one lane and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
