A 55-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been charged with drug offences related to methamphetamine and cannabis after police raided an address in Riversdale, about 30km west of Gore, yesterday.

Police from Riversdale and Gore executed the search warrant just after 9am.

The pair will appear in the Gore District Court on the 20 December.

It followed several other high-profile busts of methamphetamine supply in Otago and Southland recently.

Kelvin Wisely will be sentenced next month for his part in bringing commercial-scale quantities of the drug into Otago and Southland from the North Island.

The drug was couriered from Hamilton hidden inside thermos flasks to Wisely's home just out of Milton.

Associates of Wisely then distributed the class-A drug throughout the regions.

Two Balclutha men are also before the court accused of conspiracy to supply methamphetamine.

A Milton drug and alcohol counsellor told RNZ News earlier this month that Milton and other small towns were awash with the pernicious drug.
