The Medical Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has found a Canterbury doctor who had sex with a 16-year-old patient guilty of disgraceful conduct.
At a hearing last year, the complainant told the tribunal the doctor, known as Dr C, also gave her with drugs, including cocaine and laughing gas. But that part of the charge was withdrawn.
The tribunal says there was a power imbalance and exploitation in the relationship, which took place in 1985.
It also says the fact the complainant was a babysitter for Dr C's children was another reason he should not have taken advantage of her.
The doctor faces a disciplinary sanction, which could include being struck off the medical register, with a decision expected by August.
