A teenager has been arrested after an extensive police hunt for an armed man in Central Otago.
Police cordons were set up in Cromwell and officers and a helicopter were involved in the search for a man, described as being in his late teens, following a family violence incident.
A 19-year-old was arrested shortly before 8am today.
The cordons, in Lowburn and Mount Pisa, were lifted last night.
Police said they were confident the man did not pose a risk to the public. Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said last night officers had been in close contact with the man's family and he was being encouraged to hand himself in.
